Photos Before and After, the EDITS

TOP (Edited):
Highlighted berries to bright out the brighter and darker spots. Blurred the background more to bring the attention to the berries as the main component. Highlighted the shadows.

I sharpened the midtones on the statue bringing out the detail and etches on the statue. Blurred the edges slightly to bring the attention back to the statue. I think by darkening the statue it made it stand out a bit better than the original. By doing this you can see the texture easier.

I turned the brightness down and the contrast up to bring out the detail in the brick. I sharpened the pipes to make them stand out more. I turned up the shadows and lightened the image around the edges. I like this edit because it makes the image brighter but brings your focus to the unity between the pipes.

I darked the shadows under the marquee to bright out the primary colors in the marquee. I sharpened the marquee sign and applied brightness. I think you can see the bulbs and letters a bit better in the edited image than the original.

TOP (Edited):
I turned the brightness and contrast up while turning the saturation down. I like the effect it gave the photo because it made it look like an old fashioned polaroid. I wanted to bring out the S-curves on the stairwell but also washout the background a bit to keep the brick from taking away from the overall focus of the photo.

I turned the contrast up and sharpened the water to help make it stand out from the rest of the fountain and background. I darkened the shadows under the metal lilypad while making the top of the lilypad fountain midtones lighter.

TOP (Edited):
I lightened the midtones on the top of the plaque, and darkened the bottom to bring the attention to the center of the photo. The brightness was turned down, contrast up, and vibrance down to give it a dark, eerie feeling that I wanted to portray with the history of our town.

TOP (Edited):
I turned up the shadows on the stairs and walls, while i highlighted the light coming in from the window. I messed with the tint to give it a blue/purple lighting to the photo. I blurred parts outside the main focus to draw the attention to the contrast from the light and darkness on the stairs.

TOP (Edited):
The words on the brick buildings from old ads were my main focus. I turned the brightness down and contrast up to bring out the colors from the bricks. I turned the light down on the lower left and right to to bring out the shadows from the surrounding objects. I wanted to show the space around the letters but have the main focus be the lettering at the same time.

TOP (Edited):
I wanted to draw the attention to the secondary colors but also bring out the sharper tones of the shadows, and the car. I turned the brightness down, contrast up, and vibrance up to darken but clarify the image. I smudged the sky a bit to bring the blues and whites together. I darkened the highlights on the pavement as well.
