Lost In A Dream [VIDEO]

So The First Video Posted Was My Rough Draft:

For my video I chose to film all of the parts myself. I did look at a variety of sources and contemplated using clips from the old Alice in wonderland silent films but It didn't fit how I liked. I chose to use my entire sound clip which has a Lo-Fi sound to it, very instrumental and upbeat in most parts going into dreary, sad sounds in others. Some of the parts I chose to play backwards which gave them a different sound. The intro starts off with a simple beat and dives into a happy melody while the ending ends by tinkering out, sort of like how a Vinyl record ends. I tried to have different parts to it, repeating what would be the chorus and adding in dips to not make it sound bland. The transitions are a bit choppy but that was done on purpose to give it a disconnect from reality. As I made the song I figured out what I wanted to accomplish with it for the next week. I wanted to make a dream but one that slowly turned into a nightmare of sorts. A lot of my dreams are mashups of random things I've done, people I've met and random terror. I've always had very vivid dreams and I wanted to represent that in my video this week. Parts of the video seem like a glitch but this was also on purpose to give the disconnected feel. I would share my mashup with other people and am very excited by how it turned out. I wish I could have done it with my digital camera but it's having problems and needs to be fixed, but I think filming on my iPhone 11 wasn't that bad. I chose to use Video Editor on my Windows laptop. It was easy enough to understand and a lot like iMovie. The only part I didn't like was the fact that I couldn't do better transitions between movie clips. I learned that getting the right angles, and focus takes many takes and that can be frustrating. Also, half of what you tape you might not end up using because it doesn't fit well with what you're doing. Overall, I had a fun time doing this assignment and might try to do some more mashups on my own time.

My Final Version Of My Video and What Changed From The Rough Draft:

So for my final version I changed some aspects of the video. The beginning and ending start with footage from the archive you shared of tv static. I thought it gave the video an eerie start, kind of like the movie, The Ring. I think it added a bit more texture to the video. To cut down on some of the dizzying aspects from all the leaves on the ground and fast movements, I made shorter cuts and cut out some of the extra un-needed footage that was more of a space saver. To bring out the emphasis on the letters that I find in the dream, I slowed the footage and did multiple takes to give it a trippy effect. Overall I love the final version and I'm glad I spent a few more hours making it better for everyone to view.
